Sharon was given only a day’s notice that her job was terminated. She is a young single mother of two.  She is now worrying about how she will make her house payment, buy groceries, and all of the other bills she has.  Where will she find another job? The unemployment rate in Bartow County is one of highest in the state at 12.6 percent (the U.S. average is 10.40%). Recent job opportunities in Bartow County decreased by 7.30%. The vacancy rate of houses and apartments in Bartow county is now 5.44%.

Sharon and all those whom she represents need to know that God is our source regardless of our financial circumstance.  She also needs to know that we understand her predicament and feel her pain.  Paul teaches us to be content in spite of our circumstances.

11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength. . . .19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:10–13;19

Pray for those who are unemployed.  Pray that God “will meet all [their] need according to His glorious riches,” and give them hope.

Ask God to show you how to help the unemployed.  Your generosity to someone you know who is in true financial need may prove to be the act of kindness which God uses to bring salvation to them.
